Richard’s 12-in-12 Challenge for Build Africa 2018

Build Africa is a development aid charity which I’ve supported for 20 years. Its motto is “we believe in the power of education to help end poverty”. It builds schools and develops communities around them in the remote areas of Uganda and Kenya (www.build-africa.org). Every year I set myself a challenge to raise money for them. In 2018 it was to run a half marathon each calendar month of the year. To spice things up a bit I also did the Sevenoaks Triathlon, the Prudential Ride London 100 and the 130km Kent Cyclo Sportive.

I’m pleased to say that I completed my 12-in-12 Challenge on 8th December on a 13.2 mile run along the Greensand Way near Sevenoaks in the company of family and dear friends.

During 2018 I ran 772 miles, cycled 794 miles, swam 17.2 miles and hiked 103.3 miles. If you supported me (on www.justgiving.com/fundraising/richard-thomas82) thanks for your generous donation and wishes of good luck and encouragement. So far I have raised £2,610 (or 174% of my target)!
